Why WordPress ?

Before I get into explaining why building your website on WordPress is so awesome, I will quickly give a brief introduction as to what WordPress actually is for those of you who don’t already know.  – WordPress originally started off as a blogging platform, over the years it has evolved into an extremely powerful and flexible content management system (CMS) which allows you build infinitely scalable multi-functional websites.

WordPress recently announced that the platform now powers over 30% of the websites on the Internet and that over the last 15 years it has shown steady growth which shows that users are constantly moving towards WordPress to build websites.

A few examples of big brand names that use WordPress are Mercedes Benz, BBC America, Microsoft and Bloomberg

So how did I get into building websites with WordPress? Well after coding my first websites from scratch, I quickly found out that making changes and maintaining a website without a content management system is a challenge, so I then started exploring and experimenting with various platforms which ultimately led me to WordPress as being my favourite, due to the fact that it’s very robust and versatile, in that it allows me to build e-commerce websites, e-learning platforms, hotel booking systems – you name it the list goes on!
